My Son Couldn't See: A GlassesUSA PD Disaster! 😡
Let me share a truly terrible online shopping experience, hoping it serves as a cautionary tale for others. I recently ordered glasses from GlassesUSA for my 12-year-old, who found a pair he loved using their virtual try-on. But when they arrived, he just couldn't see properly. We ended up back at the doctor, who confirmed the problem: the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect. What's frustrating is that the GlassesUSA site doesn't even prompt you for the PD number, and if you don’t know to provide it, they just assume a value, which was wrong for us. This entire situation compelled me to try and reach their customer service to get this resolved.
Customer: I'm calling about order #[ORDER_NUMBER]. We received glasses for my son, but the pupil distance is wrong. He can't see, and his doctor confirmed it. Your website didn't even prompt us for the PD! CS Rep: I understand how frustrating that must be, especially with your son's vision involved. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and the oversight regarding the PD input. We want to ensure your son has glasses that work perfectly. Customer: It's been incredibly slow trying to resolve this; email responses take days. What can you do? We need glasses that are correct, and we can't be without them for weeks. CS Rep: I apologize for the delays in our email correspondence. We can certainly remake the lenses with the correct PD. To do this, we'll need you to send back the current pair first, and then we will process the replacement order immediately. Customer: Send them back first? So, he'll be without glasses while we wait again? That's not ideal, given how long this has already taken. CS Rep: I understand your concern about the wait time. While our policy requires the return first, I will personally escalate your replacement order to ensure it receives priority once the return is processed, aiming for the quickest possible turnaround.
The reason I left this review on the website is to hopefully prevent others from falling into the same trap.
